Hello all,
I bought a cheap 52x drive a week ago and it would not write at anything over24x. So I returned it and ordered a LiteOn 52/24/52. I received it yesterday and it would not write above 24x also. I made sure it was on the secondary channel alone and enabled dma in the device manager(which it was set on pia). That didn't help so I reformatted and reinstalled windows. Now it writes at 16x and so does the old 24x LiteOn that worked perfectly previously. I am getting pissed off to say the least.
My system specs are as follows: Win xp pro, a7n8x with 2600+, 512mg Corsair cl2 3200, LiteOn 52/24/52 cdrw, Pioneer 16x dvd, Samsung 52x cd rom, IBM 30 gig, Maxtor 40 gig HD, Promise tx2 133 controller. I am using Nero.
I have tried every ide channel with new drivers and rolled back to the old drivers with no luck.
Any help would be appreciated.
TIA

Maybe it's the quality of media you're using holding you back. Get some 48 or 52x rated CD-R and then see what happens
