I may be hitting the road for a spell (airplane), would like to avoid
checking luggage, and pondering some little bitty monitors for use in
the hotel room-- Will still bring along the HD-280's and a few
reference disks all the same. Any suggestions? Eyeballing the
suitcase, the Edirol MA-7A's may fit if I leave out a pair of
bluejeans... :-) Creative Labs ?!?!?!??! :-)

How small is small?
I use a pair of NHT Super Ones for that sort of work, though of course
you have to bring an amp with them. The Tannoy Reveals aren't _that_
much larger.
The NHT M-00 is very small, but weighs a ton, and to be honest the low
end is too restricted for me to feel comfortable with them.
Your real problem is that you can get any two of efficiency, small size,
and low end response.

Is the work anything that couldn;t be done on say a set of Beyer DT990's?

Are LS3/5a's going to be too big? I couldn't imagine anything much smaller
being usable.
