I just purchased a laptop from dell. I am considering purchasing a data usuage plan from cingular and I have no idea which plan to get. They are divided by KBs of usage - anywhere from 10KB for 20 dollars to unlimited for 80 dollars. I plan on spending from 3 - 4 hours per day maximum on the internet. Any thoughts?? Thanks!!

10k for $20?? Like 10k a second? Sure it's not mb? Either way, unless you REALLY need it, cell access is a total rip off. Unless you don't have conventional access of course.

I'm sorry, I looked again at cingular's site and it is MB 5 for $20 - so it's not as bad as I had orginally reported. Nevertheless, I still don't know if that's a lot of data or not. Thanks for the reply!

most ad banners are probably 5-7k, other images anywhere from 2-30k, html files with nothing but text, around 2-50k, add up how many of these are on a single typical page and you've got a few hundred k per page. When I had a dial-up modem, I'd pull around 1 meg per 15-20 minutes. That's not a lot of time.
