Everyone knows a USB 2.0 external hard drive transfers data at 480 MBtps, and SATA I transfers at 1,500 MBtps. One of the drawbacks of notebooks is that they do not have a whole lot of drive space.
To store media and do routine backups an external hard drive is almost mandatory. Now, none of the notebooks out there are offering external SATA ports on them yet. I am looking for input from people on offering a cardbus SATA and SATA external drive solution during a POS notebook purchase.
The cost of this would be about $200 for:
250 gig drive
External enclosue
2 port SATA cardbus solution.
Is this a viable product to offer?
Is the price reasonable?
How many people have external SATA ports on their desktops so they could do "double duty" with the drive?
Should the case have USB 2.0 AND SATA instead of just SATA for more money?
What other factors am I NOT considering?
