I am about to buy a new computer. I need it for 3d designs and graphics, using 3D Studio Max and AutoCAD, as well as Photoshop or Corel. My problem is that a notebook would be quite usefull. But i can't find anywhere a good comparison between the performance of a desktop and the one of a notebook, having similar configurations, but for the processor clock. My question is how much difference is between a P4 3Ghz desktop and a P4 M 1,73 Ghz notebook (considering that everything else is pretty much the same). It's hard to decide. :(

Emilmn if you want a notebook then you should definitely get a dual core proc. Right now only Intel has the Yonah out for notebooks. You can configure a nice one from HP for under $1500.00. Since you do a lot of graffics and design work, I would recommend a dual core proc. If you want a desktop then I have to give you my biased opinion and get an AMD 64 X2 Processor. I have a X2 4400 myself. If you want to wait for AMD's Turion X2 to come out, it will be in May. Good hunting and I hope that you find the right setup you need. :D

Before you buy a Ferrari, check out Killer Notebooks and check out the comparrison to competition page.

This month we will be releasing an x1600 256 MB notebook and when the dual core Turion comes out, we will be there!
