Hi all,
I have a Maxtor 5 30 Gig hdd (I use it as a data, not OS drive) that has been getting slower and slower, which has resulted in my computer getting slower and slower. Can you please look at the Sandra results and let me know if you think it is really dying?

Thanks,
Steve

I don't really want to read through those stats, but any nerd will tell you that the text book answer is to run a defrag.

Now that I am running RAID 5 I find myself praying for a hard drive failure.

Stats?? There aren't too many, the most important one is the 1 meg per second transfer rate of a 7200 rpm drive. I defragged just a couple of weeks ago, so that isn't it. One thing I did forget to mention though is that it doesn't spool up quickly like my other drive - it is whisper quiet, but I always just thought that was a good thing... Anyone have any other thoughts?
