Read all I could find and found this forum. I need some help trying to figure out whats wrong with my laptop screen. It's on a Dell 8100 with a 15" screen. The outer edges most of the way are darker than the middle of the screen, the colors are uneven and looks like "water" running in. It's most noticeable on the darker screens. I have read about back lamps, inverters, lcd's and have found nothing that might tell me whats going on. Anyone help me on this?
Have u tried plugging in an external monitor? If plugging in an external works, then ur LCD is probly messed up. If pluggin an external does NOT work, then you're video card maybe fried. It happened to me b4 as well; I tried to turn on my laptop, also a Dell, several months ago. Instead of seeing the Dell logo, all I saw as a black screen fading into white from the corners. Turned out that my video card was fried. Hope yours isn't.
Thanks I'll try that and see what happens. If the external monitors good then the problems with the LCD? If so which part, screen, inverter, lamp? Something else? The computer works fine just the colors distracting to me when I was used to a clear screen. Lots of accessories for this so if I can I would like to save it.
