Open question for anyone who has had experience with the MOTU 2408
MkII...

I have an Alesis HD24 (24bit 48kHz). I am thinking about getting a
Tascam DM24 to go with it.

I am also thinking that a 2408 mkII (reasonably good deals for these
out there) might work as a standalone format converter (24ch ADAT <-->
24ch TDIF) vs. likely more expensive Tascam cards for the DM24 (I
would need 2 of these to bring the DM24 up to 24 ch.) The mkII
appears to transfer all 24 bits, appears to work as a standalone
format converter, etc.

Does this seem like a good idea? Are there any issues that I might
not be aware of?

Thanks.

Yes, I believe so. ( I haven't done it myself though ) Even the original
2408 should do this at 24 bit ( only the A/D was limited to 20 bit )
