Hi
I want to know if 250W PSU will be enough for this components:
CD-ROM Teac 540-E
Floppy disk
30GB Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 8 7200 o/min
MSI K7T Pro ver. 1.0
AMD Duron 700Mhz
128 RAM PQI
MSI TNT2 M64 32MB
Conexant 56kbps modem

Iv had two disk till now, bought Maxtor
First crush after 1,5 years and second after 3 months.
Both had problems with “spin up” and “seek time”.
A few friends of mine told me that a problem was with PSU.
Now I want to buy 250 or 300W Codegen PSU.
I must fix PC to serve me few months more. Till Athlon 64 are out on market.

yes a 250w would meet your needs , not cheap one though , stick with name brand , codegen ok , but for the small price difference why not buy a larger supply for now and your future sys. 400-450w antec, emermax etc. etc.

Yes it is enough... but Codegen is a good brand according to some.

And as suggested why not buy a large PSU now and use that again in your future Athlon 64 system? Unless ofcourse you want to keep this system and build an entire new PC beside it.

Yeah 250 is the recommended spec PSU for that type of system setup, and like everyone else stick to the branded stuff that is well known.

I also have a Codegen as second PSU and it doesn't seem to be quite happy with the load of my fans and CDROMs, the voltage can get quite low. And that shouldn't happen with a 350W PSU.
