Hi,

What would be better for amateur video editing (on a laptop)? A slightly faster single core (Pentium M 760 - 2 Ghz 533MHz FSB) + faster hard drive (7200 rpm) or slightly slower but higher FSB and duel core (T2400 1.83GHz 667MHz FSB) and slower (5400 rpm) hard drive?

Both systems will have 1GB of memory.

Thanks.

BTW. I assume that a 64MB video card is sufficent for video editing?[/b]

I would go for the faster hd setup. Video editing requires a lot of disk caching. Max out the ram, most LT can handle 2 gig. If you have an option for more video ram go for it. 64 meg will work. I resently upgrade my HD to the Hitachi 7K100 7200 rpm drive. Window is now running twice as fast.

Thanks.

I guess I will max out the RAM.

I am planning on doing the same thing, was considering a desktop to do it, and found that I use a laptop more and would be more valuable.
That is why I have been considering the ACER 5672, w/duo core and 2gb ram, 120gb sata drive. $1499 at Zip Zoom Fly.

If you check closely the SATA HD is proably a 5400rpm drive. Otherwise they would have stated the speed. What a waste of a SATA interface. You will spend 1/2 your time waiting on the HD.
