To Big Hardrive

Hi

I Have A Maxtor 30GB Hardrive after an electrcity problem my comuter recognise it on the bios as a 40Gb
the it prompt : Primary Hardisk fail

I Have A very important infomation on that hardrive and i want to restore it if it can be done without Reocver Data Companies (too expensive for me )

Do You Know About software or anyhing else that i can do

I hate to say it, but if it was that important it shouldn't have been on just one hard disk.

Anyway, you could try <A HREF="http://www.sharereactor.com/release.php?id=1276" target="_new">Winternals</A>. Their DiskCommander software seems pretty good at data recovery. Naturally you will need another system to use in on.

First Thanks But ,

I Want Make My Self more clear .
The Hardrive is not seen on windows or on dos only the bios recognize it as 40GB

The Only Program that did find The Hardrive Was "Media Tools" but it can read form it because she thinks it 40GB

Help Please

It is not necessary for Windows to assign a drive letter. Winternals should be able to detect any drive that the BIOS can. However, it sounds like your drive's firmware is shot. Get the appropriate disk utility from your hard drive manufactuer, maybe they have a firmware update you can apply although that is only normal with older drives.

I Have searched the web for any firmware upgrade for maxtor 30GB Model DiamondMax Plus 8 With no success.

can u Point to a site another idea to search ?
or if u know that it doesn't exist :-(
