Well i would say thats good news, but the fact of the matter is that cd-rw's have just about reached the pinnacle of evolution.
52x 54x 56x really dont burn quicker than 48x at all, but do produce alot more noise and vibration.
Added to that, Cheap available 12x+ CD-RW discs are virtually impossible to find... or only come in singles, or are only 650mb etc.

Definately not upgrading from my 48x24x48x.

My PC is so powerful it it makes a 286-16 look slow!

It's time to get DVD burners down in price.

That and high speed combo drives.

Many modern games must be played multiplayer. And those you encounter online are, almost as a rule, complete and utter cockmongers. :frown:

That expensive?!

They should get them down to the price of a floppy drive.

Vertbatim made some Ultra High speed 24x RWs. Some of it were quite unreliable.

I've seen 12x CD-RW medias' so far, pretty sure that they'll do 16x (my CD-RW doesn't support more than 16x, so can't test). They aren't that expensive comparared to 4x, the price difference is fair.

I'm yet to see a CD-RW media more than 12x

yes actually.
Verbatim, 16x and 24x certified, 650mb, 5-6 australian dollars PER DISC. (~$3 US).
For that kind of money i can buy quite a few CD-R's of greater capacity.

Its definitely time for a cheap DVD RW drive, with my adsl modem I can fill about 3 cds a day! any guesses as to whether DVD+RW or DVD-RW will win out? I'm thinking of buying one soon and can't decide which to go for!
