Seems rather strange... Apple of all companies making/selling a product like this? doesn't seem right does it?Andy Gipetti writes:
I recently purchased a new 23" Apple display at the Grove Apple store in LA.
Though it is a beautiful display, it has a lot of short comings for the money it cost. I have not seen any one else talk about these issues yet so I thought I would share them with you.
The HEAT issue is the number one problem with the display. The top aluminum bezel of the display gets hotter then my 12" PowerBook (and that's hot). I can not even touch the top after awhile.
This will probably be Apples first design change. It needs air vents very badly like most other large displays have on the market.
Second, the power cable to the power brick is too short. You must keep the power supply brick on your desk next to the display cause the power cable is not long enough to go to the floor.
This power brick is an ugly white color that does not match the display at all (poor design by Apple).
Third, the display only pivots up & down. Again, every display on the market gives you left/right & up/down movement of their display so you can be comfortable in front of your LCD.
Fourth, and the least important issue is the placement of the USB & Firewire ports. If these ports were located in the center back instead of the right, all cables could be neatly hidden by the stand, just like the power cable is hidden. Instead, if you connect cables to these ports they fall right in front of the keyboard making a mess on my desk.
