I'm considering buying new speakers. I'm a gamer at heart, but I also want the huge thumping bass for songs and movies. The two highest speakres on my list are the Logitech Z560 and the Z640. The 560's have a lot more power, but they're only 4.1 and they're almost twice the price. Right now I have the Avance AC97 onbaord card, but I can't really work with it. I think I might just buy a new card.
Could some of you all look at a nice card/speaker combination (I'm buying from newegg.com) that would fit with spending less than $200?

Newegg has Klipsch ProMedia 4.1's for $215.

In many reviewers' opinions Klipsch Promedia series (not GMX, those are Klipsch's value line) are the best computer speakers on the market. They are only 4.1, but they are as loud as or louder than you're ever going to need. Just be aware that the system is not upgradeable to 5.1 (at least not easily).

I am biased, because I own Promedia 4.1's, but they really are very high quality. I don't really miss the center channel. My brother is jealous because they are louder overall and cleaner at high volumes than his Bose home theater system.

I'm just a big, geeky nerd.

If you need the huge thumping bass, you gotta have more power.

It's a matter of how much you're willing to spend. Period.

I'm willing to shell out the money to get a 4,000 watt Peavey-based sound system. Ergo I'm willing to fund my desire for literally skull-shatteringly loud volumes.

You get what you pay for Eraador, despite what people say. It may be similar, but you only stop noticing differences when you get to higher prices. At the low end of the consumer market, more is usually better.

I would get the 560s, thats what i use. they are very loud and have a lot of bass. i mean more bass than you want probably.
they are perfect for games and mp3s but if you are planning on using them for movies then i'd get the z680s.

the best deal in speakers right now are the 560s, i got mine months ago for about $140 shipped.
you arent going to beat these for that price. and they are worth as much as the klipsch 4.1s being as they have much more power, volume and bass. the klipsch do have a bit better highs because they have an additional tweeter but it wasnt worth the extra $100 and loss of much bass in my opinion.
