Hi Folks,
Key points of issue are:
- MN-740 wireless adapter iset configured as follows:
Network Name (SSID) detected, Infrastructure, No Channel,
No Security
- SMC 2404WBR Wireless router: WEP disabled, Firewall
disabled, Network Name (SSID) broadcast, Channel 11
- Ethernet connected from Xbox to router, Live works
- Wireless laptop, works
I believe the core of the issue here is that the MN-740
wireless adapter is not picking up the channel (11). The
option is greyed out on the Xbox thus not being
configurable. I have changed the channels on the router
to no avail. There should be a channel specified,
correct?
I have called Microsoft but they to are stumped with this
one. Hoping that I can get more eyes on this.

With the MN-740, make sure in the Xbox Dashboard itself, you have no input
already for IP addresses or DNS numbers (from hard-wired connection) and the
connection is set for Infrastructure.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I have tried that before
as well... everything is set to automatic but still no
luck. I also updated the firmware for the adapter and
rest it.
Any other thoughts?

if you are running this router in the 22mb turbo mode, it won't work.
that is a proprietary mode and not part of the 802.11 standard.

Interesting thought but this is not a configurable option
on the router. So I am not sure if that is the case here.

the specs say your router is 11/22mb turbo capable. check with the
manufacturer.
