I am going to build a computer and am new to this. I just want to know if I need to spend the money for a sound card. I am going to get an Abit IC7 motherboard that has 6 channel audio and a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speaker system for the computer. I sort of thought that I should get a sound card but my friend who has built his own computers before and is helping me said I should see what it sounds like before I send the money. Do I need to get an audio card and if this is the case, what would you suggest I get? I would like to spend less than 100 or so dollars on it but am flexible.

You might as well wait and see, it won't cost you anymore money. If It doesnt sound good to you, get a sound card. The Klipsch are decent speakers, a little boomy for me but it depends on what you are using them for. I prefer home stereo speakers but Cambridge PC speakers are very good for PC and music.

Good advice, listen before you buy.
