Help to get printer to work with Windows 8.

It is easier to help when we get enough information. Also since printers are getting cheaper and cheaper it is often better to buy a new printer then to fight with an old one.
 



We need more info. I wouldn't be at all surprised if you didn't just install W8 on a fully set up PC and are now expecting everything to just work.
You really should have uninstalled and unplugged it first then re installed it after the W8 install.

I'm not sure the age of the printer is the problem as I am using a circa 2002 HP Deskjet 5550 with no problems. I just can't use the HP software and get ink levels and stuff, but gives me what is necessary for printing no problem. I did a clean install, then plugged it in by USB and it works.

I think more info (as stated) is what is required
