I have Dell Inspiron 8200 XP Home, 30GB HD, 256DDR RAM,P4 1.7, Samsung 24x CDR/DVD combo, Crystal WDM Audio Codec soud cared. The problem I am experiencing is that every time I copy cds and go to play the coped cds they sounds like they have static on some of the trackes and even if I copy the origanal to Media Player it sounds like they have satic but the origanal does not have static on it to begin with.

All CD-Writers loose accuracy the faster they write - which is fine for digital CD's because you can only have a "1" or a "0", but an Audio CD is anologue so the less accurate the CD-R, the scratchier the sound - generally, it is best to write audio CDs at no more than 10x or 12x for best quality.

I said generally - obviously your CD Burner (You haven't said what model it is) you need to write at a slower speed for better results.

Actually it could be the cd he is copying from. Some of the newer cd's have "noise" filtered into them so when you try to copy a cd it sounds like static. Does the original cd play fine in your computer cd-rom drive? If it does then it may not have this protection device.

It could definitely be the software, try Blind Write Suite and see if that helps,
