I need to know exactly what kind of RAM to put in when I build my new computer next week.

Its an Intel P4 2.8/800 Mhz FSB/478 pin/HTT CPU,
MSI 875P, Neo-FIS2R Motherboard.

I want to try and use 400 Mhz FSB/Ram .
If someone has a working system with this setup, please let me know what type of RAM to get.

My brother tried build the same system and tried to use
2x 512MB 64Mx64 PC3200C2PT RAM from Corsair but it didnt work. He got File Transfer Errors, spontaneous re-boots and normally stable programs would crash every few minutes.

Thanks
Pav

PS: I also posted this on the Motherboard section too.

Take a look at <A HREF="http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.html?i=1828" target="_new">AnandTech's latest</A>. Their <A HREF="http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.html?i=1828&p=19" target="_new">MSI 875</A> didn't have a problem with any RAM but their <A HREF="http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.html?i=1828&p=18" target="_new">MSI 865</A> couln't run Crucial. Are you sure you have 875 and not 865?

If you need to be sure they will work and perform best you need to get Corsair LL TwinX.

* If Corsair is in your <i>dog house</i>, get the <A HREF="http://memoryx.net/gn512pc3200.html" target="_new">TwinMos with Winbond Chips</A>. Otherwise, get the Corsair XMS PC3500 memory modules.

* Could also post the issue with your brother's computer at <A HREF="http://houseofhelp.com/v2/forumdisplay.php?s=253db55a177ccc1c451e862bf85131ad&forumid=130" target="_new">Corsair's Forum</A> if you haven't already.

<b><font color=blue>I agree with that solution ... because it is a logical one.</font color=blue></b>

You want to use PC3200 and higher RAM. But make sure on your MB like the last poster said. Also- I recommend Kingston, Crucial and Corsair for brands. If you have the money go with the LL from Corsair, I know Kingston has matched RAM also off there website- but I think the matched RAM has something fishy with the industry figuring most companies guarentee that their RAM will work. If you have any problems I think you should call the RAM tech support and possibly RMA it. I've heard a lot more bad memory than MB's.
