AOKings Won't Start

AoKings will not start-up on my XP system. I have played
it before on my Windows 2000 machine, but wanted to play
it again.

All other games play fine (AOE, rise of rome, Age of
Mythology, Titans, Warcraft III, Starcraft, Quake, Call
of Duty, Etc.)

I have run through most of MS's recomendations in 303032,
reinstalled the game multiple times, tried running it in
windows 2000 compatibility mode, 256 colors, 640 x 480
and I always get the same thing.

This is a relatively new machine with 512 MB ram, ATI
Saphire 9800 video card. Drivers are pretty well all
updated.

I'm figuring some other software on the machine maybe
conflicting - I can't imagine it would be a hardware
issue.

Here is the error signature header (I have sent it to MS):

AppName: empires2.exe AppVer: 0.14.14.914 ModName:
empires2.exe
ModVer: 0.14.14.914 Offset: 0000aaad

I can't copy the body of the error.

Any suggestions?

I can;t help you at all.... however I am having the same
problem i think. I've played AoE on my computer b4,
however i had to reinstall everything and now the game
won't start. it gets to the "loading" screen and then
exits to the error report. I'm running XP. Sorry I can't
help, just wanted to tell you that you not alone......
Anyone else HELP PLEASE ?!!!!

Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing? After uninstalling look for
'left overs': remove the directory where you installed the game before and
check your temp file for files relating it. Remove the aiLog file in your
root directory. Then restart your machine and re-install.
