I recently upgraded my Win. XP box from a SB Live! Platinum to an Audigy 2 Platinum. Ever since my machine will not properly reboot or shut down. I gets to the point where it is about to reset/power off (the cursor disappears) and then seems to hang. I feel confident that it has to do with a lingering driver from the previous card but I can’t seem to find anything. My preference would be to avoid a rebuild, but I get the feeling that it is imminent. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'd try physically removing the Audigy and uninstalling anything and everything with Creative's name in front of it (Maybe run a registry cleaner, RegScrubXP). From there, check to make sure your system boots/shuts down properly. If everything's ok, download the latest drivers from http://www.soundblaster.com and reinstall your card. Boot up your machine and install the new drivers.
