Try "Control Panel"..."Administrative Tools"..."Computer Management"..."Disk Management"...Right click on the drive you want to change. Should work.

It can't change the drive letter of your boot volume.

Good point. Never tried it. What is interesting, I pick which hardrive I boot from when I start the computer and
WinXP will always assign the boot drive as "C". I am not sure why his will show "F".

Mine is F: too. I made the mistake of setting this thing up as slave and then moving it to master. My zip drive is C:

Since I'm getting a new harddrive though, I've just put up with it until then. I wouldn't mind changing the drive letter though if we figure it out.

Yeah, I installed windows on it as a slave, with my old hard drive the master. I then RMA'd the old drive and moved my current drive to the master position, adjusting the jumper of course.

I'm just going to buy a new hard drive in september when I get back from vacation, so I figured I'd tollerate it being F:, but we should try to solve this.

Well, I figure it may be best to tag my question onto this one. Hope you don't mind.

I've just replaced my HDD. I've installed XP & everything I need. There are 3 partitions so my CD is 'F'.

If I now want to add my old HDD as a slave, will it just push the CD to 'G'? I'm just worried that anything I installed with CD on 'F' will need reinstalling to work properly. I figure it may not find the CD as it will be looking at the new HDD.

Hope that is clear. Thanks for any help,

James

When you put the slave HDD in, it should show it as "G".
