I read some user comments on newegg.com about KHX3200/512 HyperX ram and many users had had problems with this ram. One even said this ram didn't work with 865PE chipset. But then I read a test report of various ram brands on Asus P4P800, and HyperX seems to perform well (just little behind Corsairs). So should I get this ram?

Thanks.

Use that as a part of your evaluation.

I am currently running Win XP on with a 2.8C CPU, Asus P4P800 with 2 x 256 MB Kingston Hyper X PC3500 @2-3-3-7, 200 FSB right now with no problems.
I haven't done any extensive testing with it, as I just set it up last night, but it appears to work fine.

The strange thing is that the test Anand did is on HyperX 3500 (running at 400), not HyperX 3200. On the test, only HyperX is using the PC3500 model whereas others are PC3200 model. How strange..

Is it that the 3200 model doesn't work well.

I built a system using the ASUS P4P800 board, 2.8 800mhz CPU and twin sticks of HyperX 3200. It was initially so unstable I sent one of the sticks back to Googlegear thinking it was bad. I just got a replacement and put it in. The system seems more stable than it did, but this morning it did a random re-boot on me, so I'm getting worried. Since I did the original install I've upgraded the BIOS to 1.007, so that may account for the increase in stability. I haven't fooled with the timing because I've never done it before and I'm not sure how you do it. (Is there a guide on THG somewhere?) Right now I have the RAM in slots 1 and 3 to take advantage of the Dual DDR400 boost. I'm wondering if I put them into slots 1 and 2 if the stability will increase. I know I'll lose the speed advantage of Dual DDR, but I don't know if it's a substantial difference in performance. Does anybody know? It doesn't matter how fast it is if it doesn't run without rebooting.

I was(and still am) trying to clear up this whole murk about Dual channel RAM, but to paraphrase one of my helpful responders, the 865/875 boards are really hard on RAM which is why they should be running 3500 memory. Maybe the 3200 wasn't able to handle the tight timing needs of the board.

If anyone else has some advice on the need to use matched pairs please let us noobs know. 'Cause so far I have found nothing to support spending an additional 40-60 dollars for "matched pairs" or "kit".

Don't know about Intel based system but I run two sticks of 256MB HyperX PC3500 on my A7N8X-Deluxe in dual channel DDR config and currently I have my RAM frequency in sync with my FSB at 217MHz (434MHz DDR) and they work like charm. I canpush them higher but my Volcano 7+ doesn't like high vcore (or heat) so I have to pull back a little. They sure are good overclocker.

Me fail English? That's Unpossible!
