help with AoK and windows XP

Age of Empires II Expansion has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience.

AppName: age2_x1.exe
AppVer: 0.7.22.627
ModName: age2_x1.exe
ModVer: 0.7.22.627
Offset: 0000d772

When ever i try and run from cd or click icon for AoK or AoC exp. it does
that error and closes im running windows XP and it's worked before.. any
ideas?

Have you installed a firewall or service pack 2 recently? If so, you need to
give access rights to your program even if you do not play online as the
program will try at the start to see whether a connection exists. If it has
no access rights it will fail to start and give you an error message.

firewall is off , dont have sp2 , and sorry for spam every time i clicked
submit said there was an error and that it would be looked into so im getting
an error on my post trying to find about another error.. lol but didnt get
sp2 99bucks for it.. and the firewall hasnt ever been turned on but if that
was the case how would i give it acess it needs / any other ideas?
