Yeah, I have looked over all of the other "unable to join" questions, and I
haven't seen one that can help me. I have just hooked up two computers, one
an XP, the other Win2000. Now, I can file share, and everything seems to be
connected. When I host a game on the XP, the laptop detects it, yet get's
the above error message. I have a LINKSYS hub if that helps any.

Welcome to the club i have the EXACT problem. I got two comps but both have
xp one home edition the other professional. I also got a linksys router as
well and i got cable internet. they are both connected and i get unable to
join as well. You have to open ports. do this by going to 192.168.1.1
Username and password is mostly always admin. Then go to applications and
gamings and then the port forwarding will open go to
http://www3.sympatico.ca/nibblesnbits/PortRoute.html#ports to find out wich
ports to use. Another was is to enabvle DMZ by going to applications and
gaming and then next to port forwarding will be DMZ enable that. Make sure
you also have all firewalls disabled as well if not sure how to disable
firewalls go to http://www3.sympatico.ca/nibblesnbits/MultiPlayer.html#fwall
one more site thats was given to me recently was
http://www3.sympatico.ca/nibblesnbits/MultiPlayer.html#fwall try that it
will help. hats all i know so far hope it helps.
