Basicly it like a laptop but bigger. I m useing a 3.4 EE edtion with two 80 gb hard drive and 17 Inch monitor. Battery power 2.5ghz

So the big differnce. Faster CPU Bigger Screen Heavy 15 to 20lb. They use alot of power. So battery life is shorter Mybe at the most 1 to 2 Hours max.

Vers my other laptop which is a Intel centreno duo 1.66ghz with 100gb hard drive. That about 8lb and 15 inch. monitor. Low setting Battery life 4 Hours and low power setting 4 Hours and uses runs at 800mhz.

Here some ideas what a desktop replacement is.
