My much loved oberheim xpander is ill. It doesn't seem to be able to
hold its memory anymore. It will hold it while it is plugged in and
for a short period after but leave it a day and all the presets
display things like dfxzvnxzos and such gobbeldygook. Could be a new
battery is needed but I understand you have to be very careful when
opening an xpander. So does anyone know a qualified technician who
could sort this preferably in the north essex area but will go to
London if necessary.

Here's a couple of places off the top of my head.
Rather out of the way, though.

Wip it open and have a look at the battery! Should be a simple
replacement if that's the trouble..
I opened mine the other day for no good reason other than to see all was
well. I didn't see a reason why I should have been careful. No easy way
to damage it.
