I currently have 512MB of PC2100 Memory (Crucial), running at CAS 2.5. I've heard rumors that you can actually run it at CAS 2 with no problems. Have you guys done this before, and if so, is there the potential of damaging the chip by making such a change in the BIOS? Thanks.

chances are you wouldnt damage the chip (dont quote me on that) but your system might be unstable or simply not boot at all requiring you to reset the cmos

um, im not entirely sure what youre saying but it sounds like your mobo defaulted the chip to case 3.0, so as long as your chip is cas 2.0 ready, and that should be the case, no pun intended, itll be fine to bump it up to two

Sorry for the confusion, allow me to clarify. I am wondering if Crucial PC 3200 CAS 3, which now running at CAS 2.5, can also run smoothly at CAS 2.0.

This is one of those trial and error things... It might it might not. You are pushing it beyond it's spec (overclocking).
