Hello, I am looking for a gaming laptop. I know pretty much on desktops what is great and what to avoid, but I am planning to buy my first laptop soon because I going to university next september. I have seen some great offers on sites such as www.cyberpowerpc.com, but the problem is that I am a Canadian citizen, and I can't find competitive worlwide companies. I plan spending around 1500-2000 $ CAD. Is there someone that could help me find something that would be performing?
The only thing I ask in this laptop is a great video game card, and if possible a turion 64.
Laptop will never match the desktop due to limited cooling system, however Ii found 17" Dell 9400 (E1705) with 1G memory, 256M 7800 Video pretty good for gaming such as Half Life 2, FEAR, Rodge Trooper, Deus Ex, etc. Visual experience and sound is good but it won't match the desktop at the extereme setting. With larger battery pack, it last for 2.5 hours on word processor mode.
Dell XPS has better gaming spec but not Duo processor and carry higher price tag. I suspecting they releasing new range of high spec laptop since they bought Alienware. Warning:- Very high spec laptop will burn your lap!, you have to place a book between them.
I found Dell technical support very good, one of my speaker socket broken under warranty, it took them 1 week to fix it (including shipping) which basically replace the motherboard and upgraded the BIOS. Not bad!.
