The inserts on the back of the RNP....can you do the Mackiesh insert a 1/4"
jack half way in thingie to take it as an additional output(for sending to
an external mixer to monitor) simultaneously with the main out going to the
digital recording device of choice?

Yes, you can. The output will be down 6 db wrt the main out - usually
not a problem.
