Hey I have been searching these posts and they say that for example, PC133 dimms will work in pc100 motherboards.

However I am looking at the nforce chipsets that support PC3200 dimms and was wondering if my old pc2100 dimms would work in that motherboard? (or any motherboard that supports a faster type of ram)
thanks!

Yes.

Even though the nForce boards have two sets MCH's it will work the same as if you had one.

SDRAM in and of itself is an architecture that is backward compatible.

Heya donnyk;

Ok heres the deal.

Your current pc2100(266Mhz) modules will work BUT, your external CPU frequency will be underclocked by a sad amount, thus affecting your CPU core frequency, your computer core wont reach its potential.

I recommend you buy new ram, Buy pc3200(400Mhz), i recommend you buy your ram at http://www.buyaib.com , they have an excellent product, choose option-C and the lifetime instant replacement warranty ONLY, the rest of the options they offer come with option-C, this option gives you the Cas-2.0 option and the ram runs at 2-3-3-6, very nice for overclocking.

I hope i have Helped.
