Here is a very nice player's amp with blackface tone for a silverface price!
This 1979 Deluxe Reverb was serviced and blackfaced by Seattle area amp guru
Rick Erickson in Oct. '03. He removed the power tube capacitors, replaced
the screen, grid resistors, and preamp plate resistors, blackfaced the phase
inverter circuit, replaced a burnt resistor in the preamp, filter
capacitors, bias capacitor & resistor, reinstalled the bulb fixture,
replaced the power cord with a grounded one, and set the bias. This
service/mod cost $230.
The worn-out speaker was replaced with a Weber Ferromax C12N which keeps the
tone in line with original intent. Cost after Shipping - $125.
I also replaced the rectifier tube with a Webber Copper Cap for another $25
but I will include the tube with the sale.
The grill cloth is in great shape and the tolex is pretty good with no major
tears and just some worn-off bottom corners. The amp also sports a spiffy
replica blackface faceplate but I will also include the original silver one.
The previous owner did a great job adding fender tilt-back legs so no amp
stand is needed.
This amp plays beautifully and all features work. The only reason I'm
selling is I don't play it much anymore and I want to make room in a small
condo for a new amp. With the $400 worth of repairs and upgrades already
done I can't think of anything you'd want to do to this amp.
Asking price was $900 - now $690/obo. I am located on the eastside of
Seattle, WA.
