Ok, let's make a big guess here, I'm supposing your Sidewinder is a 'Game
Port' model, i.e., Version 1, (instead of a 'USB' model, Version 2) and so:

"To install that controller in Windows XP, click Start / Control Panel /
Switch to Classic view if you haven't already / click Game Controllers
Click Add... / Select Microsoft Sidewinder Auto Detect / OK / OK."

Did you get the CD that comes with the joystick?

Good luck,

The CD isn't going to do him or her any good if it's a gameport joystick!

Cari (M$-MVP),

I was trying to get the dude to respond to my help message by opening a
'conversation' and throwing him a bone. Thanks for butting in. Now I don't
hope to get even a 'Thank you' as you've frightened him off!!!

Sorry I can't wish you Good Luck,
Bumper7
