Chrs;

Well my friend that all depends on the speed of the front side bus on your processor, and also wether you are going to overclock it or not.

For instance if the FSB on your CPU is 533Mhz but you only buy pc2100 then your not even gonna make your default clock speed and the FSB will run underclocked, but if you buy pc3200 then you can overclock the hell out of it and be stable, see what im getting at here?

Actually PC2100 IS the default speed for a "533" bus, it's 133MHz (DDR266) and the 533 bus is 133MHz (QDR533 bus), so it's in synch. And that works perfectly in dual channel mode (in single channel mode, it gives you a 50% bandwidth penalty).

* Keeping the FSB at 266MHz and overclocking the ram to a higher frequency (333MHz or 400MHz for example) is not advised. For optimum performance run the FSB and DRAM in sync. So, if you are not going to overclock your 2400+, which has a FSB of 266MHz, then set your memory to 266MHz also.

* Get at least PC2700 memory - or PC3200 memory if you want to better prepare for a possible future 400MHz FSB Athlon XP Processor upgrade. And get two sticks of memory in order to enable the Dual DDR feature of the nForce2 chipset.

in response to Crashman:

oh !@#$ your absolutely right, i meant to put pc1600 instead of pc2100, too late now, guess that kinda ruined the whole example, that will teach me to proof read hehe
