how do you view the approach charts to airports i can't
find any information on the disks or manuals but i am
told to check them prior to the lesson?

This is explained on the MS games support site. Search
for the charts folder under FS2002 and print hte one you
want. You can also open another window and tile it with
FS2002

Have you tried \Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\charts\Lessons ?

IIRC there are also some missing ones that can be downloaded
from the Ms site.
