It's a 3.5 years old Quantum Fireball lct08 13 GB. Fortunately it wasn't my primary hdd. I've lost some game NRG images, Caesar III and 28 MB downloaded content (no backup), a movie and few classic games. I'm very fortunate that I didn't have not many important stuff in that HDD.

One chip of the HDD fried, so I think it's not possible to repair this HDD. PC doesn't boot when I plug-this HDD. Is there some inexpensive way to recover the data from this HDD?

well the only way i know of is to find an identical drive and get someone with skill to attach a new circuit board.

definately not for the faint of heart though.
Only other option is a professional data recovery service. and thats expensive.
