I'm looking to sell a Soundcraft Spirit Studio 16/8/2 but it's got a few
problems. The worst of these is the fact that the audio from one of the
control room outs (Right, I think) will occasionally stutter or drop out for
a split second. It seems like a loose connection, but the jutter has nothing
to do with moving around the plug in the socket, it just happens
spontaneously.
Does anyone have any idea if this can be remedied at home (preferably
without taking the console apart - spraying WD40 or contact cleaner, or
something?) or if I should take it in to be serviced, or indeed if it would
even be worth repairing it at all - would I be financially better off by
just ebaying it "as seen" with a warning to the buyer that the Control Room
Outs are unreliable?
The main outs and everything else are fine, AFAIK, apart from one of the aux
sends which occasionally crackles lightly (though I haven't experienced this
problem in months).
I'm in Birmingham, UK, by the way, if anyone in here is interested in taking
it off my hands. :-)
It's the headphone jack that's causing the problem I think. That
console mutes the ctrl room outs when headphones are plugged in and the
jacks go bad. All the 1/4 in. TRS jacks in those Soundcrafts are a
major pain, the insert jacks tend to do this too.
