Hi does anybody know where I can get a program that can retrieve general system information on the computer.

I actually want one that will fit on a floppy and can be run from that drive, so that when I look at 2nd hand PC's I can quickly check it out. I used to have one, but can not find it.

Therefore the full blown programs like siSandra are no good for floppies.

I think Karen Kenworthy's Computer Profiler might do the job. It's a 832KB download, so you can fit that on your floppy. I'm not sure if it can run on a floppy, but it's small enough to carry around, that for sure. Plus, it's free.

Have downloaded and installed it but am not sure if it works on a floppy. Have sent an email to Karen to ask.

You can install it onto a floppy, then run it from the floppy on another machine. I just tried it.

However, the other machine would need VB runtime 6 installed, I think.

Neat little utility, nice one.

Nice call, hammerhead. Maybe get VBrun6 onto another floppy, just in case.
