Just curious, but tv-tuner cards can receive satellite signals as well as basic cable and TV, right? (uses the same coax cable) The only limitation would probably be how many of the channels are available, right?

Yes.
When the signal is scrambled in some way you cannot recieve it via a TV tuner.Otherwise the standard coaxial output can be recieved via TV tuner
 
YES, but it depends on where you live. Digital Cable for the US; SAT. for Europe/ASIA.

Hope that helps. I' get a card right now if they had them for N.Amer. as I have a dish AND Digital Cable (which unfortunately ISN'T compatible with the Hauppage cards).
