I have a ThinModem+ that whose memory has become corrupt. Normally this is
no big deal because I would just reflash the original software but this
corruption is strange in that as soon as the screen is tapped (even on a
no-notify restart), the OS crashes. Here is as far as I can get:
Reprogram Hard Button to possibly useful PRC (FileZ, ThinModemUpdater, etc.)
Insert Card (crash ensues).
Reset Prism (holding down rocker for no-notify).
As soon as screen "blinks", push reprogrammed hard button.
Now I am running a useful app and have avoided a crash.

However, In order to FORCIBLY reflash, the ThinModemUpdater requires that I
hold the down rocker while I tap "Update". As soon as I tap the "down"
rocker, the OS crashes.

If I use FileZ to examine card 1, it too crashes.

So what I need is something like digifix which will automatically launch
itself (or not; I actually can do that part by remapping a HW button) and
then get busy without any cue from me. It would then FORCIBLY reflash card
1 (ANY
software at all or even no software) without the user having to hit any
buttons first. I can
launch an app without crashing but cannot tap the screen without crashing.
Is there anything that can do this? Is there any source code around for
reformatting card 1 (I could compile my own app)?

If I can reflash something (anything), then, presumably, I can go back and
run
ThinModemUpdater to forcibly reflash again to put it back the way it should
be.

P.S. It has nothing to do with hacks or any other software, I have tried a
hard reset (total memory wipe) and the module still induces crashes upon
insert or screen tap.
