I need to get a laptop for university and am thinking of getting one that will be decent for games too. I will mainly use it to play World of Warcraft in bed via Wi-Fi and maybe some other games when I am too tired to sit in front of my main computer. The cheapest Intel Core Duo notebook I have found is an Asus A6JA, which also has a Radeon X1600 which is not a bad card for a laptop.

1395.00 € ASUS A6JA YONT2300/X1600/1GB (2X512)/80/DVDąR A6JA-Q011P/1GB

1445.00 € ASUS A6JA YONT2300/X1600/1.5GB(1X512+1X1GB)/80/DVDąR

1538.00 € ASUS A6JA DUO T2400/1GB/100/DVD-R A6JA-Q028P

I also just noticed that there is a Turion 64 X2 released for about the same price, actually 1340€. The downside is that it has an ATI XPRESS 1150. Would this be much slower than the X1600?

Are there any other manufacturers I should check out?

I recently purchased the Asus A6JA-Q054H from The source by circuit city in Canada and the price was $1799.00 Cdn. Which is 1260 euro's. It has been able to handle games such as F.E.A.R. , Battlefield 2, and has even had good results with Obivion. I have no complaints with Asus so far. It has replaced my gaming desktop. The only thing I miss about my desktop is the storage space.

Go for the throat!

Even at the lowest tier of your budget (which is almost $1,800 U.S.), with the exchange rate you can get a really nice notebook.

Yep true. Thing is I need to buy the laptop here in Europe. I also do not need to replace my desktop computer as I have an Athlon X2 4200 1.5 gigs ram and X1900XT 512 ;) Just something I can use in bed basically heh.

Since you need to buy it here in Europe, perhaps you can find a suitable one at zepto.com?

I'm very happy with my 6214W. They ship from Denmark.
