Hello all, I have a list of all the components i will be ordering for my first gaming PC build, could anyone tell me if this is all compatible

AMD FX 4100 Bulldozer 3.6GHz Black Edition
XFX Radeon HD 6850
ASUS M5A88-M EVO
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500gb 7200rpm
LITEON 24x BLACK SATA DVD±RW DUAL LAYER
650w Corsair 80plus PSU
G-Skill 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz RipjawsX
Windows 7 64bit OS

i have been reading up long and hard and feel this is a good set-up for my price range so just wanted to make sure it sounds ok and is all compatible, any feedback would be much appreciated.

Yes is ok. Ill change FX 4100 with Phenom II x4 955 BE or 965BE because they are much powerfull than fx 4100.

Cheers sosofm. I did look at either 955be or 965be a few weeks back but everywhere is out of stock and not seemingly getting any back in for some reason, the ones who do have it in stock are asking silly money. So was thinking either FX 4100 or might be able to stretch to a FX 6100. Cheers for the feedback :hello:

I got s fx4100 oc it @ 4.2ghz and runs bf3 on ultra fine pair"d with a 6870 1gb
don't get people saying phenom faster when the fx has much bigger cach than older phenom I had a 1090t befor and can notice any diff,, and it overclocks well for the price it's a bargain CPU 8 cores are a waste unless doing major multi tasking as most games don't even use 4 cores

I'd also go for a asus m5a97 pro or asus sabertooh 990fx if can afford I'm using the m5a97 pro at moment and works well with fx 4100 bios is very good poss gonna get the sabertooh but don't think will gain much unless I put 2nd gfx card in as has 2x 16 lanes and m5a97 has x16 x4

I'd go with a 1155 i3/i7 build instead of a AMD build.

With AMD announcing they are no longer going to compete with Intel on the desktop/laptop front buying into a AMD platform isn't the best option for futureproofing.
This is coming from a long time AMD/ATI fan.

i find it unlikly amd will give up on desctop/laptop front i found nothing to suggest they are as they do have a big chunk of the market due to fact there cheaper than over priced intel products, iv allways had amd and would never cross to the dark side amd has allways been the best for gaming for me as amd & ati are as one now it makes sence there products are going to work well togrther just hope they sort the next cpu"s out as there 8 cores seem to be a big flop allthough microsoft are realeasing a hotfix patch for the bulldozer family to fix the probs with multitasking under win 7 it was released but then withdrawn as was not quiet finished and leaked early.. now looking at first Q1 2012 so not long should improve bulldozer family, , .. lol

AMD are changing focus to APU, mobile and other markets as opposed to desktop and laptop processors.

The last time AMD actually beat Intel was the 64 line which it lose over 5 years ago to the core 2's.

After that they just had issue after issue, Bulldozer was there final chance to regain the lead, but we all know how it turned out.

With the new i3's and i5's eating up the mid range market share its leaving AMD as being the best for low end gaming systems or non gaming systems.
Essentially out of the gaming market.

The upgrade paths aren't that good either, before sandy bridge you could get a $60 amd process then upgrade it to a $150 latter down the line which was almost on par with intels $150 offering. Now sandy bridge not only starts at a nice low entry level, but also has far better performance for the money.

Don't get me wrong I love AMD. I've built 4+ systems using AMD/ATI combos.
I just think its finally time to jump the ship which has been sinking since the core 2's where released.

I have put an AMD 1100T in the 990FX and it works quite well.
Have added the Corsair H60 Liquid cooler and have PRIME95 it and never got it to go over 40C.
