Noob Raid ???

I am looking to buy a new ABS pc and wondered about raid when I config. On a new pc what is the overall advantage of going to a raid configuration? Was looking at dual WD 80 gb,8 mb (raid 0) vs a WD 120 gb 8 mb. Not sure what specs you need to for an answer but a few are:

Asus A7N8X Deluxe nForce2 Chipset
AMD Athlon Xp2600+/333 fsb
2 Piece each Corsair DDR400 512MB PC-3200 C2 XMS
Sapphire Radeon 9700 PRO 128M DDR 8X agp DVI/TV-out 325/310

Just a basic home pc and above avg gaming setup.

I have, I just thought the "increased performance" was a bit on the vague side. For the type of pc that I'm looking for I'm guessing it's not really worth it but wanted the forum's opinion. Since it is a preconfigured pc from scratch it really isnt all that much more expensive and it's no extra trouble for me to order the pc either way.
