what size ?? , I have a few diamond Max 9's & they're fine
I also have Western Digital WD1200jb's and they're fine
If I had to pick I'd go with WD , prices are close
Verify the warranty, some dealers offer one year for the 80 gigs and 3 years for the 120 gig.
I have two Maxtor plus 9 SATA 120 GB and they work very fine. I have these drives in a RAID 0 array from Silicon Image and they are incredibly fast.

I had 2 Maxtor Plus 9 60GB drives ( 1 now as the other developed a fault) with the FDB - Fluid Dynamic Bearing.
I must say I was very happy with how they performed and they hardly made a noise.
The failed drive went after 8 months with a detection issue and I was lucky enough to get a full refund as my supplier couldn't replace it. Really though, I would recommend getting a model with at least 3 years warranty as this could very well save you money in the long run.
