Hi There. Here's what you need to do on a Vaio with Windows 8 to boot from a CD/DVD...

Shutdown Laptop.
Press assist button.
Select Start Bios Setup. Once in Bios...
Move to Boot Menu
Change Boot Mode from UEFI mode to Legacy.
Change the 1st Boot Priority to [Internal Optical Disc Drive]
Move to Exit Menu and select save changes.
Confirm Save.
Select shutdown.
Make sure your bootable disc is in the drive then restart your laptop normally.

Please Note You will have to change the Boot Mode back to UEFI mode when you're done, otherwise you may not be able to boot from your Hard Drive and the Bios will display 'No Operating System Found' on the screen.

Hope this helps.

This also worked for Sony Viao All In One Desktop. Our "assist button" was located on the left side of the touchscreen. Thanks mickymillo!
