Black screen

Hello,

I just factory restored my Sony Vaio E-Series but right when it began to start up a black screen displayed with my cursor. The brightness was really low and so i just left it. Then my laptop screen just turned off but the LEDs in the keyboard are still on. What do i do?

You need to cheak if you Hard Disk Activity light is on, if not then thats the thing that is causing the problem..

You have the recovery disk?

What I always do is make (I already have one ) a Linux/Ubuntu bootable CD. Then I use the basic tools to make sure everything is running great. It also helps me to see if Linux boots, then it most likely is Windows and/or some runaway driver. If not, then I move to hardware troubleshooting.
