Hey guys.
I was thinking of getting a MacBook for college.
First of all, Merom-based MacBooks are coming out soon, right?
I looked in the Apple website, but can't find where they mention battery life.
I think they look nice. :-P
Also, this might be a dumb question but, can MacBooks take PC-based accessories? For example, can I put in my external hard drive that I use for my PC into a MacBook?
Thanks, all.
There has not been any official word from apple apple when there next generation notebooks containing the core 2 duos (Merom).
My guess would be around September or October.
Most External Harddrives and cameras work on both Mac anc PC without the need of any additional drivers/software. However for printers and scanners you will have to locate the appropriate driver, probobly came with the product or else download from there website.
Mac won't announce anything about the Merom until the day it comes out so they screw the most people possible with the Core Duo 1 as long as possible so thenthey can then be like "OH HEY a new model came out thats 30% faster for the SAME PRICE as the crappier one you just bought! Come buy a new one!"
Goto www.macinsider.com Most info there is legit...it sounds like they'll come out with Macbook models with Merom in another month or so, but check the site and see what the buzz is. I'd say wait for Merom for sure.
Like the other poster said, most hardware should work on the Mac, thats what they pride themselves in.
(You can tell I'm not a Mac fan...well I am in secret, I love the design and looks and features...But they know that, and thats why they want to charge you an arm and/or a leg for it)
In regards to battery life.
The new C2D chips are the best power saving models to date. They are lower than all the AMD models as well as the older Pentium EE models, when it comes to Watt consumption.
I can only imagine the mobile (Merom) chips would be even more energy efficient, thus extending battery life.
