CL2 Corsair and Dual DDR

Okay, so it wasn't clear to me on the Corsair web site - are the standard (non-low-latency) CL2 XMS modules usable for Dual DDR? Corsair strongly suggests that we use LL chips for Dual DDR, but is it even possible, or safe, or worthwhile to place standard chips in?

I ask because I have a KT400 chipset board with a single 512 MB XMS CL2 module. It runs very quickly, but I'm considering upgrading to an nForce2 chipset board, in light of my newer 333 FSB processor. I'd love to just buy a new nForce board, and another XMS chip (same model type as my current) to enable the Dual DDR. But I keep reading all this hoo-ha about low latency and needs for registered memory... do I really need to buy a whole new set of registered TwinX modules if I plan to upgrade? Because while I might have the 180$ for a new motherboard and additonal chip of RAM, I don't have 350$ for a new board and TwinX set.

Please note that I know little to nothing about the speed timing settings... though I wish I did! Thanks in advance!

Yes. The Corsair Low-Latency PC3200 memory modules are mechanically identical to the non-low-latency PC3500 memory modules. The Corsair Low-Latency PC2700 memory modules are mechanically identical to the non-low-latency PC3200 memory modules.

It is possible and safe.

I neglected to mention that my current XMS module is a PC2700 chip. So while they're safe and usable - are there any potential bandwidth bottlenecks or clogs? I only ask because I've seen references to that from the places that sell Corsair (which could merely just be a marketing ploy to get you to buy the more expensive LL... if the difference is hardly detectable, then I'll deal with it :) )

Thanks for the answer above, by the way! I always appreciate the help (without the Willumet_Sucks style flames either...what's with him and hating anyone that's new here?)

The PC2700LL and PC3200 memory modules would be a better choice if they're affordable. I can't make any promises that two Corsair non-low-latency PC2700 memory modules will work well in Dual DDR in this case. I guess you could give it a shot and then return the newly-bought memory module if all does not go well.
