I just bought a new laptop and i tryed to install windows but when formating the drive to NTFS it just hangs on 44 %, i tryed quickformating and it did it, but also when i do scandisk in windows it hangs on the stage 4 around where the 44% should be, could it be a harddrive problem ?

The hard drive is a Samsung HM120JI
Other confs are :
CPU : Intel Core Duo T2400
Chipset : Intel 945
Ram : 1 GB DDr II
GPU : Mobility Radeon x1600 256MB

Is this the right section to post this  ?

Did you do a chkdisk on it to make sure you didn't have bad sectors?

Did you buy this used?
