I'm serious! Sorry about the tease ;^) I've apparently lost two of the
screws on ther side of the slider on my T|3. I guess it happened when I
dropped it a while back but I didn't notice it then. Palm doesn't sell
them (and the idea of sending it back for repair is absurd) so I'm out
looking for potential sources for replacement.. Can anyone offer any
suggestions? I've temporarily stolen a couple from my T|T to keep
things together until I can fix the T|3.

How about taking one of the T|T screws with you to a hardware store and
ask the person responsible for screws and nuts and bolts?

email a palm repair place and see if you can buy a couple from them?

In our last episode, the evil Dr. Lacto had captured our hero,
Rick Povich <shutter@pitt.edu>, who said:

I have the same exact problem (hardware flaw?) and solved it the same way
(T organ donor).
The last time this happened (to the T, I think), I went to a hardware
store (not a Home Depot, but an actual hardware store) and explained
the situation to them. The guy took out a box (one of those
25-drawers-each-1-inch-by-1-inch type of boxes) with all of his "eyeglass
and other small thing" screws, set me up at a table with a screwdriver,
and invited me to figure out which one would fit.
I was so grateful that I told him I took four (and paid) when I only
took two. The 80-cent tip was well worth it.

Those are pretty small screws that you probably won't find at the
hardware store. Try an optometrist (or one of those shops where sthey
sell and repair eyeglasses). Also, electronics repair shops might have
something that will work.

I contacted Palm in the UK and got the following message. I'm not sure if
it's overkill or good customer service;
"Thank you for contacting palmOne Technical Support. Your case number is
1-8155xxxx.
To replace the screws and, more importantly, to ensure this problem doesn't
happen again we will need to take the unit for a repair. Currently we are
unable to send screws out to customers and it is possible the problem would
reoccur also.
Please REPLY with the following details, so that we may arrange a Service
Repair Order (SRO). This will enable you to have the Palm handheld repaired.
1. The full return address for your unit after repair (daytime address)
2. Your daytime telephone number
3. The type and language of the Palm unit (e.g. Palm IIIx, Int. English)
4. The serial number of the broken unit
Instructions on where to send your unit will be provided by our support
staff.
If you have any further questions, please reply to this message.

Okay, suppose I played the role of the "good guy" and made these screws
available to anyone who needs them. Let's further suppose that I asked for
oh, maybe a $5.00 donation ($3.50?) to my PayPal account, in return for me
shipping four (4) screws to any address via regular US Mail service.
Any takers? I could be ready to ship by Monday/Tuesday of next week, I am
pretty certain.

Your response has been nearly overwhelming <g> so I set up a page on my
website just for Tungsten T, T2, & T3 screws. Feel free to check it out:
